Professional Biography

My formal technical education in sewing began with my diploma in Sewing and Construction from the Academia Josefina in San José, Costa Rica in 1989.

After my graduation, I worked for the National Theatre of Costa Rica creating costumes for productions throughout Costa Rica. I also constructed costumes for art shows and television commercials.

After moving to Tampa in 2004, I created costumes for the University of South Florida Theatre Department and assisted in costume construction in theatre productions at the University of Tampa.

In August of 2010 I opened my own business, Sewing by Sylvia.
